Utility and play lawns need to be quickly repairing and hard wearing to maintain a covering of grass. This means they must contain a good proportion of dwarf rye grass. This rye grass variety is quite fine without being coarse and makes for a great looking lawn on a medium to high cut. It is by no means a ‘budget’ lawn!
Sowing Rates
- New lawn: 50 grams per square metre
- Over seeding: 25 to 50 grams per square metre
Mowing Height
- Normal use: 1″ to 11/2″ (2.5 to 4cm)
- Heavy use, winter or drought: 2″ or above (5cm plus)

- 50% Dwarf perennial rye grass
- 50% Strong creeping red fescue
